The new passive Gen 2 RFID pressure sensor has been designed by Farsens to allow passive RFID standard compliant measurement of barometric-order pressure in enclosed or hardly accessible places, and situations where use of batteries is not recommended.
.
Just by using the energy provided by a reader and without the need for a battery or other types of internal power sources, Vortex can continuously measures the surrounding instant pressure and transmit the data, together with its 96-bit EPC number, to any EPC Gen 2 compliant interrogator. No need for periodic battery replacement frees users from any kind of maintenance making this passive RFID barometric pressure sensor an excellent pressure measurement solution not only for use in hardly accessible places, but also for embedding in assets throughout their whole life cycle. The measurable pressure values range from 260 to 1260 mbar with accuracy of ±0.1 mbar and resolution of 0.020 mbar RMS. This passive RFID pressure sensor is available in three standard antenna models that provide read range up to 1.5 meters. Two of them are optimized for the ETSI frequency band exhibiting higher or lower directivity. The third one offers high directivity and works well across all world’s regions. All the three models come in non-protected PCB formats for custom encapsulation or embedding in non-metallic assets/materials, but can be delivered with fully customized encasement in order to meet any requirement in terms of mounting options and durability for use in harsh environments, including IP68 protection.
